Sensex sinks 1400 pts; PSU Bank, auto stocks drag

The Nifty 50 and Sensex were trading near the day’s lows, weighed down by losses in PSU banking and auto stocks, as investors remained cautious amid mixed signals from the ongoing US–Iran talks.



At 14:17 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73863.39 down by -1410.06 points or by -1.87 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22919.9 down by -386.55 points or by -1.66 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74904.91 and intraday low of 73792.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23186.1 and intraday low of 22905.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2397.65,+0.82%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 296.45,+0.46%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1798.10,+0.18%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1353.10,-4.21%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 846.15,-4.11%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4134.00,-3.74%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1686.45,-3.42%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 235.25,-2.87%), among others.

Oil&Gas index was at 25793.2 up by -3.23 points or by -0.01%. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 282.85,+4.66%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 485.90,+3.03%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 532.50,+2.12%),.



Realty index was at 5225.71 down by -144.72 points or by -2.69%. Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 41.55,-4.99%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 702.00,-4.25%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1177.35,-4.11%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 438.20,-3.87%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1507.00,-3.69%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4676 , shares advanced were 919 while 3573 shares declined and 184 were unchanged.
