Post-Session: Sensex ends up 1,372 pts; Nifty above 22,900; auto, bank shine

Indian benchmark indices closed near their day’s peak on Tuesday, driven by gains in auto and banking stocks. Investor sentiment also improved amid hopes of easing tensions in the US-Iran conflict, despite mixed signals from both sides.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 74068.45 up by 1372.06 points or by 1.89 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22912.4 up by 399.75 points or by 1.78 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74489.39 and intraday low of 73084.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23057.3 and intraday low of 22624.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3515.35,+5.19%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4151.15,+5.18%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.95,+4.85%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 850.00,+4.69%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2216.80,+4.54%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 299.20,-0.81%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1030.80,-0.09%), among others.



CDS index was at 53342.33 up by 1281.03 points or by 2.46%. Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2216.80,+4.54%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1301.60,+4.12%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 10180.55,+2.88%), Amber Enterprises India Ltd. (Rs. 6461.20,+2.67%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1663.00,+2.56%),.



In BSE, BSE_Bankex index was at 59218.21 up by 1387.03 points or by 2.4%. Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 263.80,+3.67%), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd. (Rs. 878.10,+3.36%), Union Bank of India (Rs. 173.95,+3.27%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 367.35,+3.09%), Canara Bank (Rs. 133.45,+3.05%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4689 , shares advanced were 3122 while 1378 shares declined and 189 were unchanged.
