Sensex jumps 1285 pts; Nifty above 22,900; SMIDs gain, IT stocks shine

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Eternal Ltd. InterGlobe Aviation Ltd.Asian Paints Ltd.UltraTech Cement Ltd amomng others.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73981.4 up by 1285.01 points or by 1.77 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22956.75 up by 444.1 points or by 1.97 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74489.39 and intraday low of 73084.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23057.3 and intraday low of 22624.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3504.00,+4.85%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.70,+4.74%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4133.35,+4.73%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2214.00,+4.41%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10795.00,+4.20%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.85,-0.93%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1026.40,-0.51%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1749.90,-0.37%), among others.



Auto index was at 54224.75 up by 1249.3 points or by 2.36%. Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5285.00,+4.31%), Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 2572.10,+4.02%), Bharat Forge Ltd. (Rs. 1711.90,+3.87%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1066.80,+3.66%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 110.15,+3.38%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4592 , shares advanced were 3185 while 1202 shares declined and 205 were unchanged
