Mid-Session: Sensex rises 1234 points, Nifty above 22,750

The Sensex and Nifty 50 traded in positive territory, supported by gains in banking, financial, and IT stocks.



At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73930.73 up by 1234.34 points or by 1.7 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22761.45 up by 248.8 points or by 1.11 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74212.47 and intraday low of 73084.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22899.6 and intraday low of 22624.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4139.00,+4.88%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 237.05,+4.45%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2198.55,+3.68%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3461.00,+3.56%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1426.95,+3.14%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 299.75,-0.63%), among others.

IT index was at 28793.15 up by 705.13 points or by 2.51%. Nintec Systems Ltd. (Rs. 341.55,+19.99%), Sasken Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1190.60,+8.82%), Zaggle Prepaid Ocean Services Ltd. (Rs. 206.90,+6.43%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 401.00,+4.96%), Network People Services Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1111.80,+4.86%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4409 , shares advanced were 2969 while 1227 shares declined and 213 were unchanged.
