Sensex surges 898 points; NSE Nifty at 23336.45

Domestic bourses gained strength during the late noon trading session supported by buying seen in index heavyweights including UltraTech Cement Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd. , Eternal Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Trent Ltd among others.



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75462.53 up by 898.61 points or by 1.21 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23336.45 up by 185.35 points or by 0.8 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75549.01 and intraday low of 73949.76 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23343.6 and intraday low of 22955.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11092.45,+4.58%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 880.10,+2.93%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 222.30,+2.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3036.00,+2.87%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3582.80,+2.65%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 429.05,-2.40%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 297.80,-0.96%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1787.60,-0.89%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1790.90,-0.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 383.10,-0.35%), among others.



Auto index was at 54687.92 up by 811.13 points or by 1.51%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3036.80,+2.90%), Apollo Tyres Ltd. (Rs. 412.00,+2.90%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 9082.85,+2.29%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12836.00,+1.97%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5303.00,+1.90%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 26318.49 down by -545.61 points or by -2.03%. Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 526.20,-6.69%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 149.55,-4.44%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4678 , shares advanced were 1532 while 2948 shares declined and 198 were unchanged.
