Sensex up 200 points; Nifty above 23,200; metal stocks support

The Nifty50 and Sensex traded higher, led by gains in HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, and Reliance Industries.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74767.1 up by 203.18 points or by 0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23242.75 up by 91.65 points or by 0.4 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74983.29 and intraday low of 74384.61 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23270 and intraday low of 23098



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10883.00,+2.60%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4245.95,+2.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 186.70,+1.80%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 867.20,+1.42%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1380.10,+1.21%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 434.25,-1.22%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1239.75,-0.70%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 298.70,-0.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2936.20,-0.51%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2398.65,-0.48%), among others.



Metal index was at 37659.51 up by 390.79 points or by 1.05%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 934.15,+2.72%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1139.90,+1.86%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 186.70,+1.80%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1151.00,+0.72%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 692.35,+0.46%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 26539.54 down by -324.56 points or by -1.21%. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 150.85,-3.61%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 548.00,-2.82%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3833 , shares advanced were 1570 while 2063 shares declined and 200 were unchanged.
