Sensex volatile; Nifty near 25,300

Indian equity benchmarks opened marginally higher on Friday but soon slipped in red amid geopolitical tensions.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82245.29 down by -62.08 points or by -0.08 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25304.5 up by 14.6 points or by 0.06 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82516.27 and intraday low of 82191.83 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25347.95 and intraday low of 25249.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2740.10,+1.37%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3185.50,+1.09%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12480.00,+0.93%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 191.00,+0.90%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1700.80,+0.76%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 266.50,-3.44%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4843.95,-1.42%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 255.95,-1.39%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1394.75,-1.35%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1285.00,-0.80%), among others.



Metal index was at 38765.39 up by 549.5 points or by 1.44%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 698.55,+4.61%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 379.75,+4.17%), APL Apollo Tubes Ltd. (Rs. 2033.00,+3.07%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 155.70,+2.74%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 697.00,+2.73%),.



Realty index was at 6038.42 down by -61.35 points or by -1.01%. Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 762.75,-2.27%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 928.10,-2.05%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 61.87,-1.45%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 529.75,-1.42%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1402.50,-1.37%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3538 , shares advanced were 1734 while 1621 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
