Sensex surges 414; PSBs, pharma shares outperfom

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. Tata Steel Ltd, Nestle India Ltd. among others



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82324.45 up by 414.82 points or by 0.51 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25276.2 up by 118.7 points or by 0.47 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82783.18 and intraday low of 81874.39 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25435.75 and intraday low of 25168.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1413.55,+2.55%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 189.00,+2.52%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1310.75,+2.20%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2709.20,+1.85%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1044.95,+1.63%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 278.10,-1.87%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4013.30,-1.64%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 897.15,-1.14%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1345.00,-0.26%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1403.50,-0.03%), among others.

CGS index was at 62962.53 up by 1115.59 points or by 1.8%. Waaree Energies Ltd. (Rs. 2649.10,+9.66%), Astral Ltd. (Rs. 1406.20,+4.36%), Supreme Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3489.20,+4.19%), Data Patterns (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2289.90,+3.47%), Premier Energies Ltd. (Rs. 735.00,+3.47%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4465 , shares advanced were 2986 while 1313 shares declined and 166 were unchanged.
