Sensex falls 378 pts, Nifty near 25,550; Wipro sinks 9%

Indian stock markets opened sharply lower on Monday, weighed down by heavy selling in frontline stocks such as Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Tata Motors (PV), and Cipla.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83191.44 down by -378.91 points or by -0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25556.5 down by -137.85 points or by -0.54 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83539.93 and intraday low of 83028.89 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25653.3 and intraday low of 25528.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1722.70,+3.12%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4883.00,+3.05%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 963.90,+1.41%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2383.60,+1.01%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 422.45,+1.00%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1374.70,-2.62%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1426.60,-2.13%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1672.45,-1.00%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3180.00,-0.83%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1656.20,-0.78%), among others.



_CGS index was at 64222.97 up by 270.52 points or by 0.42%. CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 598.00,+6.43%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 16929.00,+4.34%), Polycab India Ltd. (Rs. 7275.00,+2.02%), Premier Energies Ltd. (Rs. 747.25,+1.03%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4469.85,+0.93%),.



Realty index was at 6576.85 down by -71.33 points or by -1.07%. Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1476.00,-3.33%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1841.45,-2.51%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 819.30,-2.20%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 543.35,-1.50%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1507.10,-1.08%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3782 , shares advanced were 1218 while 2343 shares declined and 221 were unchanged.
