Market sentiment remains fragile as investors turn cautious following US President Donald Trump’s announcement of fresh tax levies on European nations over Greenland, dampening global risk appetite.

On the global front, stock markets in Asia fell for the first time in six sessions, led by a decline in Japan's Nikkei 225 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng. Meanwhile, safe-haven assets, including gold and silver, rose to another record on Monday as tensions escalated on the tariffs front.

US stocks ended nearly flat on Friday in a choppy session ahead of the long weekend, and all three major indexes posted losses for the week as fourth-quarter earnings season kicked off.
