Sensex, Nifty firm; IT index zooms 3%

Indian stock markets were trading with strong gains on Friday, led by information technology (IT), banking, and capital market-related shares.



At 14:24 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 83559.91 up by 177.2 points or by 0.21 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25672.5 up by 6.9 points or by 0.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84134.97 and intraday low of 83456.5 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25873.5 and intraday low of 25662.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1681.95,+5.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1669.80,+5.12%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1693.00,+1.46%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1039.35,+1.07%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12377.45,+0.98%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 289.00,-3.41%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1662.70,-2.23%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 15803.45,-2.11%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2757.00,-2.07%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 330.20,-1.36%), among others.



IT index was at 37695.34 up by 1161.41 points or by 3.18%. Subex Ltd. (Rs. 10.87,+5.23%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1681.95,+5.18%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1669.80,+5.12%), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 7905.00,+4.94%), LTIMindtree Ltd. (Rs. 6314.00,+4.71%),.



CGS index was at 63775.46 down by -970.9 points or by -1.5%. GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 2652.50,-5.15%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 16160.00,-4.70%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 407.20,-2.56%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 562.50,-2.50%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 2905.00,-2.28%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4492 , shares advanced were 1943 while 2355 shares declined and 194 were unchanged.
