Post-Session: Sensex surges 546 pts today, adds 9% in 2025; Nifty ends at 26,130

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty jumped nearly 1 per cent on Wednesday, the final trading session of 2025, after days of range-bound trading amid sustained buying by domestic institutional investors.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85220.6 up by 545.52 points or by 0.64 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26129.6 up by 190.75 points or by 0.74 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85437.17 and intraday low of 84705.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26187.95 and intraday low of 25969



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 864.40,+2.72%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 180.05,+2.45%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2201.40,+2.17%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1569.40,+1.86%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1268.70,+1.82%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3205.75,-1.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1591.00,-0.86%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1616.45,-0.49%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 986.65,-0.27%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1719.20,-0.02%), among others.

Oil&Gas index was at 28708.83 up by 763.51 points or by 2.73%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 498.20,+6.37%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 383.90,+3.84%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 424.50,+3.08%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 166.45,+3.07%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 240.25,+2.32%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4571 , shares advanced were 2886 while 1498 shares declined and 187 were unchanged.
