Sensex surges 726 points; NSE Nifty at 26160.25

Indian stock markets were trading higher on the last trading session of the calendar year 2025.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85401.91 up by 726.83 points or by 0.86 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26160.25 up by 221.4 points or by 0.85 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85408.05 and intraday low of 84705.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26179.3 and intraday low of 25969



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 862.95,+2.54%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 180.05,+2.45%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1575.15,+2.23%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2200.00,+2.10%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1269.40,+1.88%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3217.35,-0.93%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1597.30,-0.47%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 985.00,-0.43%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1620.70,-0.23%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1719.10,-0.03%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28688.38 up by 743.06 points or by 2.66%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 496.55,+6.02%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 383.90,+3.84%), Oil India Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4479 , shares advanced were 2823 while 1483 shares declined and 173 were unchanged.
