Sensex rises 155 pts; Metal and chemical stocks support

Indian equity markets kicked off the final trading session of calendar year 2025 on a positive note, supported by buying interest in metal and chemical stocks, which led the early gains across indices.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84830.41 up by 155.33 points or by 0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25938.85 down by -3.25 points or by -0.01 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84929.46 and intraday low of 84746.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25976.75 and intraday low of 25878



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 179.55,+2.16%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4017.90,+1.10%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 849.40,+0.93%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1255.50,+0.76%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 262.15,+0.71%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2017.85,-0.93%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3231.20,-0.50%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1597.65,-0.45%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3647.35,-0.44%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1617.60,-0.42%), among others.



Metal index was at 36762.17 up by 498.7 points or by 1.38%. JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1160.00,+4.35%), Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1055.45,+3.37%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 144.75,+2.66%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 179.35,+2.05%), Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 848.80,+1.49%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3405 , shares advanced were 2241 while 971 shares declined and 193 were unchanged.
