Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty close marginally lower; metal, PSU Bank, auto shares shine

Stock markets ended marginally lower on Tuesday amid thin year-end trading as persistent foreign fund outflows and a muted trend in global equities weighed on investors' sentiment.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84675.08 down by -20.46 points or by -0.02 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25938.85 down by -3.25 points or by -0.01 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84806.99 and intraday low of 84470.94 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25976.75 and intraday low of 25878



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 175.75,+2.03%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3663.50,+2.00%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2045.10,+1.66%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1246.00,+1.13%), State Bank of India (Rs. 973.30,+0.88%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 277.00,-2.10%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5015.85,-1.37%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1624.40,-1.28%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2744.80,-1.09%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11699.00,-0.84%), among others.



CDS index was at 59182.88 down by -483.32 points or by -0.81%. Amber Enterprises India Ltd. (Rs. 6269.15,-3.39%), Berger Paints (India) Ltd. (Rs. 526.50,-3.32%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1348.90,-2.25%), PG Electroplast Ltd. (Rs. 563.00,-1.94%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1703.00,-1.61%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4534 , shares advanced were 2001 while 2345 shares declined and 188 were unchanged.
