Sensex down 157 points; Oil&Gas, IT stocks weigh

Indian equity benchmark indices were trading on a lacklustre note on Wednesday despite favourable global cues, with trading volumes expected to remain subdued ahead of the Christmas holiday.



At 14:28 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85367.01 down by -157.83 points or by -0.18 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26163.95 down by -13.2 points or by -0.05 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85738.18 and intraday low of 85363.53 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26236.4 and intraday low of 26139.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16694.05,+0.71%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11751.00,+0.65%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1261.10,+0.49%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1016.00,+0.45%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3639.00,+0.39%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5050.00,-2.03%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1734.40,-1.19%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1556.30,-0.93%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2028.35,-0.93%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2285.25,-0.70%), among others.



Realty index was at 6864.27 up by 7.89 points or by 0.12%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 564.35,+1.12%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1620.30,+0.98%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1854.60,+0.66%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1664.00,+0.16%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 694.80,+0.12%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 27947.08 down by -224.32 points or by -0.8%. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 365.60,-1.14%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 161.30,-1.13%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 193.45,-1.12%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 470.20,-0.99%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1556.30,-0.93%),



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4420 , shares advanced were 1924 while 2322 shares declined and 174 were unchanged.
