Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty end higher on foreign fund inflows, firm global trends

Benchmark equity indices Sensex and Nifty climbed close to 1 per cent on Monday, buoyed by sustained foreign fund inflows and a strong rally across global markets. Investor sentiment remained upbeat amid growing expectations of further monetary policy easing by the Federal Reserve.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85567.48 up by 638.12 points or by 0.75 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26172.4 up by 206 points or by 0.79 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85601.33 and intraday low of 85145.86 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26180.7 and intraday low of 26047.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1689.70,+3.06%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2144.85,+2.32%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1646.55,+2.09%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1670.00,+1.67%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1771.25,+1.50%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 974.25,-0.60%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2151.50,-0.37%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4071.50,-0.07%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5146.00,-0.06%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1007.50,-0.05%), among others.

TECk index was at 19133.03 up by 383.01 points or by 2.04%. Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 6570.00,+3.32%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 272.55,+3.10%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1689.70,+3.06%), Sun TV Network Ltd. (Rs. 555.95,+2.32%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2144.85,+2.32%),.



CDS index was at 60276.92 down by -63.39 points or by -0.11%. Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 12842.90,-3.19%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1765.90,-0.91%), Supreme Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3340.00,-0.65%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4716 , shares advanced were 2925 while 1565 shares declined and 226 were unchanged.
