Sensex slides 384 pts, Nifty near 25,900 in broad-based selling

Indian stock markets extended their sell-off on Monday, with sentiment remaining under pressure amid weak global cues. Most Sensex constituents traded in the red, led by M&M, Trent, Bharti Airtel, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Sun Pharma, Kotak Bank, Infosys, TCS, Titan, Maruti Suzuki and Bajaj Finance, which declined by up to 1.4 per cent.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84883.33 down by -384.33 points or by -0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25928.15 down by -118.8 points or by -0.46 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85156.83 and intraday low of 84863.74 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26007.2 and intraday low of 25910.25.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2277.00,+0.71%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2782.10,+0.60%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11757.00,+0.27%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4074.00,+0.01%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3623.10,-1.52%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2062.85,-1.11%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 344.00,-0.99%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 261.05,-0.97%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1008.20,-0.91%), among others.



Among sectors, CDS index was at 59872.45 up by -61.55 points or by -0.1%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 932.00,+0.70%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1806.80,+0.53%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 13433.95,+0.38%),.



Realty index was at 6798.47 down by -83.04 points or by -1.21%. Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 866.60,-2.20%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1632.15,-1.62%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 542.70,-1.41%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1076.80,-1.29%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2049.60,-1.11%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3666 , shares advanced were 1458 while 1967 shares declined and 241 were unchanged.
