Post-Session: Sensex, Nifty fall for third straight day; Investors cautious ahead of RBI policy

Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty declined for a third consecutive session on Wednesday, with investor sentiment remaining subdued ahead of the RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee decision.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 85106.81 down by -31.46 points or by -0.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25986 down by -46.2 points or by -0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85269.68 and intraday low of 84763.64 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26066.45 and intraday low of 25891



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3179.95,+1.41%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1391.40,+1.37%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1578.30,+1.12%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1000.45,+1.06%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1270.90,+0.91%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3814.55,-1.86%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3650.15,-1.79%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 322.95,-1.72%), State Bank of India (Rs. 951.40,-1.69%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1238.10,-1.63%), among others.



IT index was at 36647.64 up by 282.3 points or by 0.78%. Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 421.45,+4.09%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 363.15,+3.74%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 624.60,+3.13%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 845.45,+1.81%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 254.60,+1.74%),.



PSU index was at 19967.65 down by -316.59 points or by -1.56%. Indian Bank (Rs. 812.80,-5.43%), Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 225.40,-4.57%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 119.80,-4.54%), Canara Bank (Rs. 146.05,-3.95%), Punjab & Sind Bank (Rs. 28.52,-3.75%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4515 , shares advanced were 1576 while 2762 shares declined and 177 were unchanged.
