Stock markets in red amid relentless foreign fund outflows

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Wednesday amid persistent foreign fund outflows and profit-taking by investors.



At 10:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84861.69 down by -276.58 points or by -0.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25907.75 down by -124.45 points or by -0.48 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85269.68 and intraday low of 84763.64 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26066.45 and intraday low of 25896.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3192.20,+1.81%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1577.25,+1.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1548.00,+0.81%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1378.35,+0.42%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1639.60,+0.25%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 323.35,-1.60%), State Bank of India (Rs. 952.85,-1.54%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1241.35,-1.37%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2038.60,-1.31%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3670.05,-1.25%), among others.



IT index was at 36677.97 up by 312.63 points or by 0.86%. Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 366.75,+4.77%), Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 416.95,+2.98%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 256.55,+2.52%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 620.70,+2.48%), RateGain Travel Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 703.85,+2.01%),.



PSU index was at 19982.31 down by -301.93 points or by -1.49%. Indian Bank (Rs. 810.25,-5.72%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 120.35,-4.10%), Bank of India (Rs. 140.80,-3.40%), Canara Bank (Rs. 147.65,-2.89%), Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd. (Rs. 104.00,-2.85%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3997 , shares advanced were 1300 while 2484 shares declined and 213 were unchanged.
