Mid-Session: Sensex down 274 points; Power, Metal stocks weigh

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade lower during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in Power and Metal stocks.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84130.43 down by -274.03 points or by -0.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25792.2 down by -85.65 points or by -0.33 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 84712.79 and intraday low of 84044.99 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25953.75 and intraday low of 25763.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4027.00,+0.98%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3061.00,+0.84%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16307.00,+0.63%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 421.00,+0.55%), State Bank of India (Rs. 938.95,+0.52%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 322.25,-2.16%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 337.70,-2.14%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2110.05,-1.28%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1348.25,-1.04%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 288.65,-0.99%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28767.4 up by 195.81 points or by 0.69%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 482.95,+2.81%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 166.85,+2.17%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 184.30,+0.66%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 359.75,+0.59%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 255.30,+0.33%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4281 , shares advanced were 1928 while 2136 shares declined and 217 were unchanged.
