Stock markets fall as fresh foreign fund outflows hurt sentiment

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Thursday as fresh foreign fund outflows and no clarity on the future course of rate action by the US Federal Reserve dampened investors' sentiment



At 10:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84557.93 down by -439.2 points or by -0.52 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25930.15 down by -123.75 points or by -0.47 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84906.95 and intraday low of 84467.03 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26032.05 and intraday low of 25892.25



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4021.90,+1.78%), State Bank of India (Rs. 942.90,+0.33%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16187.55,+0.27%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1275.60,+0.20%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1455.90,+0.09%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2065.65,-1.66%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 291.45,-1.49%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1694.00,-1.31%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1538.55,-1.20%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1437.45,-1.09%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 28591.28 up by 69.53 points or by 0.24%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 429.35,+2.02%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 354.90,+1.92%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 165.15,+1.32%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 474.05,+1.22%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 634.90,+0.06%),.



TECk index was at 17692.46 down by -192.5 points or by -1.08%. Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1861.10,-3.42%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 368.70,-3.27%), HFCL Ltd. (Rs. 75.25,-2.51%), KPIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1169.75,-1.99%), Route Mobile Ltd. (Rs. 723.00,-1.97%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4062 , shares advanced were 1711 while 2131 shares declined and 220 were unchanged.
