Sensex plunges 482 points, Nifty below 25,950

Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 opened on a weaker note today, tracking mixed cues from Asian markets.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84514.45 down by -482.68 points or by -0.57 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25921.55 down by -132.35 points or by -0.51 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84906.95 and intraday low of 84514.45 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26032.05 and intraday low of 25915.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4041.10,+2.26%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1275.00,+0.15%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 16159.75,+0.10%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1681.95,-2.01%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 291.60,-1.44%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2072.10,-1.35%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1490.80,-1.32%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 183.00,-1.16%), among others.

Realty index was at 7360.71 up by -23.4 points or by -0.32%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 647.00,+1.83%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1728.85,+0.86%), Signatureglobal (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1097.15,+0.33%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1755.55,+0.07%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3578 , shares advanced were 1515 while 1858 shares declined and 205 were unchanged.
