Sensex down 260 points amid profit-taking, fresh foreign fund outflows

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty declined on Friday amid profit-taking after almost a week-long rally and fresh foreign fund outflows.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 84296.14 down by -260.26 points or by -0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25832.15 down by -59.25 points or by -0.23 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84707.44 and intraday low of 84277.33 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25944.15 and intraday low of 25816.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1379.50,+1.17%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 175.75,+0.95%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2020.85,+0.62%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3636.10,+0.37%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3075.70,+0.03%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2517.60,-3.20%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2170.70,-2.44%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1435.70,-1.15%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1245.45,-1.11%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12009.00,-1.10%), among others.



Metal index was at 34392.23 up by 446.12 points or by 1.31%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 237.25,+3.94%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 821.15,+3.62%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 497.65,+3.07%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 491.75,+1.99%), Jindal Stainless Ltd. (Rs. 807.75,+1.05%),.

FMCG index was at 20595.58 down by -221.94 points or by -1.07%. Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2210.30,-3.43%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2517.60,-3.20%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd. (Rs. 139.05,-2.80%), Manorama Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1450.90,-2.54%), Dabur India Ltd. (Rs. 500.65,-2.04%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4054 , shares advanced were 1683 while 2126 shares declined and 245 were unchanged.
