Post-Session: Sensex off day's high, up 400 pts, Nifty below 26,000

Benchmark Indian equity indices, Sensex and Nifty50, traded higher on hopes of easing trade tensions between India and the US.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84556.4 up by 130.06 points or by 0.15 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25891.4 up by 22.8 points or by 0.09 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85290.06 and intraday low of 84445.25 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26104.2 and intraday low of 25862.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1528.85,+3.86%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1524.05,+2.43%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3074.65,+2.24%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1259.40,+1.90%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2223.15,+1.24%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 328.30,-2.88%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12130.00,-1.75%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2010.00,-1.63%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1452.45,-1.41%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1363.50,-1.35%), among others.



IT index was at 35347.18 up by 782.64 points or by 2.26%. Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 378.20,+7.73%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 2155.00,+4.45%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 896.35,+3.88%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1528.85,+3.86%), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 800.45,+2.82%),.



Oil&Gas index was at 27505.18 down by -132.77 points or by -0.48%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 440.55,-3.28%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 150.10,-2.56%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 331.15,-2.33%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1448.05,-1.17%), Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 623.20,-0.05%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4599 , shares advanced were 1918 while 2537 shares declined and 144 were unchanged.
