Mid-Session: Sensex near day's high, rises 800 pts; Infosys up 4%

Benchmark Indian equity indices, Sensex and Nifty50, traded higher on hopes of easing trade tensions between India and the US.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85255.13 up by 828.79 points or by 0.98 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26090.4 up by 221.8 points or by 0.86 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85272.4 and intraday low of 84867.97 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26099.7 and intraday low of 25991.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1544.00,+4.89%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1546.85,+3.97%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3096.00,+2.95%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1268.15,+2.61%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1479.60,+2.16%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 331.60,-1.91%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2025.75,-0.86%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1461.60,-0.79%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12282.00,-0.52%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1379.20,-0.22%), among others.



IT index was at 35681.54 up by 1117 points or by 3.23%. Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 380.80,+8.47%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 389.35,+7.10%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 911.85,+5.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1544.00,+4.89%), Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 816.55,+4.89%),.



HCS index was at 45408.63 down by -22.51 points or by -0.05%. Acutaas Chemicals Ltd. (Rs. 1712.45,-4.17%), Jupiter Life Line Hospitals Ltd. (Rs. 1502.00,-3.80%), Fortis Healthcare Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4410 , shares advanced were 2078 while 2125 shares declined and 207 were unchanged.
