Sensex, Nifty firm; Infosys, HCL top gainers

Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty continued to trade higher on Thursday amid growing optimism on the US-India trade deal front.



Fresh foreign fund inflows and buying in IT stocks also drove the markets higher during the initial trade.



At 10:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 85204.25 up by 777.91 points or by 0.92 % and then NSE Nifty was at 26095.9 up by 227.3 points or by 0.88 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 85272.4 and intraday low of 84867.97 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 26097.1 and intraday low of 25991.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1533.50,+4.18%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1535.80,+3.22%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1270.70,+2.82%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1482.85,+2.39%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3074.00,+2.22%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 335.20,-0.84%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12291.00,-0.45%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2169.35,-0.02%), among others.

IT index was at 35515 up by 950.46 points or by 2.75%. Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 380.30,+8.33%), Happiest Minds Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 522.50,+4.39%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1533.50,+4.18%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 378.25,+4.04%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 913.00,+3.62%),.

Oil&Gas index was at 27466.91 down by -171.04 points or by -0.62%. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 437.35,-3.98%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 150.10,-2.56%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 330.45,-2.54%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4133 , shares advanced were 2063 while 1830 shares declined and 240 were unchanged.
