Mid-Session: Sensex up 424 points; NSE Nifty at 25756.4

Indian stock markets recovered from a weak start to trade higher on Friday. Initial sentiment was dampened by softness in Asian equities and record-high gold prices amid renewed US-China tensions. However, easing crude oil prices — with Brent crude slipping to around $60 per barrel — helped lift investor sentiment and supported the market rebound.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading 83891.77 up by 424.11 points or by 0.51 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25756.4 up by 171.1 points or by 0.67 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84172.24 and intraday low of 83206.08 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25781.5 and intraday low of 25508.6



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2507.70,+4.09%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 2022.00,+2.79%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3632.95,+2.02%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3705.50,+1.73%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2605.20,+1.72%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1439.45,-2.26%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 340.95,-2.14%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1496.45,-1.25%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 172.10,-1.12%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 288.60,-1.10%), among others.



CDS index was at 61142.64 up by 1008.18 points or by 1.68%. Whirlpool of India Ltd. (Rs. 1370.95,+10.78%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3705.50,+1.73%), Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 491.00,+0.79%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1424.75,+0.62%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1965.45,+0.41%),.



IT index was at 34224.88 down by -507.05 points or by -1.46%. Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 240.10,-5.38%), Quick Heal Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 331.50,-4.48%), Magellanic Cloud Ltd. (Rs. 69.01,-4.15%), Mastek Ltd. (Rs. 2085.35,-3.97%), Datamatics Global Services Ltd. (Rs. 856.20,-3.13%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4287 , shares advanced were 1778 while 2320 shares declined and 189 were unchanged.
