Mid-Session: Sensex up 170 pts; Nifty holds 25,400 on Fed's 25bps rate cut

Indian benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty continued to trade higher during the noon trading session supported by buying index heavyweights including Eternal Ltd, Infosys Ltd.Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Hindustan Unilever Ltd.and HDFC Bank Ltd. among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82863.71 up by 170 points or by 0.21 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25398.55 up by 68.3 points or by 0.27 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 83141.21 and intraday low of 82829.46 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25448.95 and intraday low of 25393.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 333.30,+1.55%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1544.15,+1.39%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1638.00,+1.10%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2590.35,+0.88%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 973.40,+0.72%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 711.45,-1.07%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 997.50,-0.89%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3610.80,-0.62%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 334.90,-0.45%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 735.70,-0.41%), among others.



IT index was at 36082.35 up by 293.2 points or by 0.82%. Nelco Ltd. (Rs. 909.95,+7.44%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 934.60,+5.69%), Ramco Systems Ltd. (Rs. 548.80,+4.99%), Onward Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 319.90,+3.51%), Netweb Technologies India Ltd. (Rs. 3006.80,+2.68%),.



CGS index was at 70979.61 down by -435.08 points or by -0.61%. Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 19476.00,-2.93%), Grindwell Norton Ltd. (Rs. 1658.50,-2.30%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 775.55,-2.05%), Inox Wind Ltd. (Rs. 148.30,-1.36%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 231.45,-1.20%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4348 , shares advanced were 2106 while 2043 shares declined and 199 were unchanged.
