Sensex up 242 pts, Nifty tops 25,300

The Indian equity markets were seen trading higher in Wednesday's intra-day trades on hopes of an earlier-than-expected India-US trade deal.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82623.51 up by 242.82 points or by 0.29 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25316.8 up by 77.7 points or by 0.31 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82720.76 and intraday low of 82490.47 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25324.35 and intraday low of 25275.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12722.85,+1.15%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 719.70,+0.85%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2037.70,+0.81%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3691.40,+0.66%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 973.10,+0.64%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1399.55,-0.64%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3537.05,-0.58%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 171.10,-0.52%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 325.80,-0.46%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 411.35,-0.44%), among others.



CGS index was at 71563.44 up by 825.25 points or by 1.17%. Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 415.10,+3.05%), LMW Ltd. (Rs. 15303.95,+2.31%), Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1633.25,+1.79%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4924.30,+1.76%), Elgi Equipments Ltd. (Rs. 475.10,+1.70%),.



Metal index was at 32942.08 down by -115.21 points or by -0.35%. Jindal Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1045.70,-0.66%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 215.15,-0.60%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 751.95,-0.54%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 171.10,-0.52%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 460.00,-0.45%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3630 , shares advanced were 2391 while 1070 shares declined and 169 were unchanged.
