Sensex at day's low, down 680 pts, Nifty tests 24,900

Indian equities broke their six-day winning streak on Friday, trading lower as major laggards in the Sensex index included Asian Paints, ITC, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports, HCLTech, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, which declined by up to 1.8 per cent.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81319.87 down by -680.84 points or by -0.83 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24900.05 down by -183.7 points or by -0.73 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81993.61 and intraday low of 81318.78 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25084.85 and intraday low of 24893.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3407.45,+1.02%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1647.70,+0.49%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14333.35,+0.36%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 3624.00,+0.24%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1930.70,+0.03%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2510.80,-2.18%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 397.55,-2.02%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12635.85,-1.78%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1983.25,-1.70%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1467.80,-1.68%), among others.



HCS index was at 44843.85 up by 76.65 points or by 0.17%. Poly Medicure Ltd. (Rs. 2067.95,+5.28%), Ipca Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 1412.00,+3.90%), Procter & Gamble Health Ltd. (Rs. 6565.00,+3.57%), Aarti Drugs Ltd. (Rs. 482.50,+2.43%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 6146.90,+2.00%),.



Metal index was at 31275.87 down by -360.18 points or by -1.14%. Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 158.80,-1.67%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1055.70,-1.54%), NMDC Ltd. (Rs. 70.35,-1.40%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 121.60,-1.30%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 997.75,-1.23%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4356 , shares advanced were 1799 while 2360 shares declined and 197 were unchanged.
