Mid-Session: Stock markets in red; IT, bank stocks drag

Indian stocks continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in index heavyweights including Asian Paints Ltd ITC Ltd. UltraTech Cement Ltd. HCL Technologies Ltd. Nestle India among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81483.78 down by -516.93 points or by -0.63 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24922.55 down by -161.2 points or by -0.64 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81993.61 and intraday low of 81393.18 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25084.85 and intraday low of 24893.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3400.00,+0.79%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14344.70,+0.44%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1646.00,+0.38%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 322.50,+0.26%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 896.40,+0.08%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2513.70,-2.07%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 398.20,-1.86%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 12664.85,-1.55%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1472.00,-1.40%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1163.90,-1.28%), among others.



CGS index was at 67328.61 up by 232.08 points or by 0.35%. Grindwell Norton Ltd. (Rs. 1554.00,+1.21%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 378.30,+1.11%), Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Rs. 447.05,+0.95%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4514.50,+0.90%), Inox Wind Ltd. (Rs. 144.00,+0.84%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4234 , shares advanced were 1824 while 2210 shares declined and 200 were unchanged.
