Sensex plunges 485 pts; FMCG, metal, banks fall

Equity benchmark indices declined on Friday, after about a week-long rally, dragged by IT and bank stocks.



At 10:29 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 81515.42 down by -485.29 points or by -0.59 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24961.4 down by -122.35 points or by -0.49 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81993.61 and intraday low of 81429.33 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25084.85 and intraday low of 24945.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3398.00,+0.74%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 771.85,+0.56%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 899.80,+0.46%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1646.35,+0.41%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14314.85,+0.23%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1469.85,-1.54%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1961.15,-1.46%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2533.15,-1.31%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 400.60,-1.27%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1503.00,-1.18%), among others.



CGS index was at 67519.32 up by 422.79 points or by 0.63%. Inox Wind Ltd. (Rs. 145.15,+1.65%), Grindwell Norton Ltd. (Rs. 1556.95,+1.40%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 379.25,+1.36%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3232.40,+1.14%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 58.80,+1.08%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3856 , shares advanced were 1710 while 1948 shares declined and 198 were unchanged.
