Post-Session: Stock markets extend winning run to 6th day; Sensex climbs 143 points

Stock markets continued their upward momentum for the sixth straight session on Thursday, with the benchmark Sensex rising nearly 143 points, driven by strong buying in heavyweight stocks like ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries.



The 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82000.71 up by 142.87 points or by 0.17 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25083.75 up by 33.2 points or by 0.13 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82231.17 and intraday low of 81921.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25153.65 and intraday low of 25054.9



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1979.45,+1.12%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1445.80,+1.09%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 895.70,+0.90%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1424.65,+0.86%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3616.75,+0.76%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 284.00,-1.51%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 321.65,-1.47%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 767.55,-1.38%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2639.80,-1.08%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1178.40,-0.98%), among others.



HCS index was at 44767.2 up by 269.97 points or by 0.61%. Caplin Point Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2205.00,+4.25%), Mankind Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 2601.35,+3.82%), Concord Biotech Ltd. (Rs. 1757.40,+3.81%), Orchid Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 785.15,+3.56%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 1593.50,+3.08%),.



Power index was at 6592.09 down by -62.68 points or by -0.94%. Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 58.17,-2.81%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 521.20,-2.01%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 284.00,-1.51%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 81.85,-1.22%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 218.50,-0.97%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4424 , shares advanced were 2192 while 2052 shares declined and 180 were unchanged.
