Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that its cumulative exports of Made-in-India electric vehicles (EVs) have crossed 50,000 units since the commencement of global shipments in August 2025.
Europe was the first market to receive the company's electric vehicles and continues to remain its largest export destination. Maruti Suzuki was India's leading EV exporter in FY2025-26 and retained its position during April-September FY2026-27.
Commenting on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company's EV export journey began in August 2025, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the commencement of production of the e VITARA at the company's Hansalpur facility in Gujarat. The vehicle was developed for sale in more than 100 countries, and Maruti Suzuki currently exports EVs to nearly 50 countries, with Europe accounting for the largest share of shipments.
Takeuchi added that the company accounted for nearly 93% of India's electric passenger vehicle exports during April-September 2026, highlighting the country's advanced manufacturing capabilities and growing global competitiveness.
Reinforcing its 'Make in India, Make for the World' commitment, Maruti Suzuki has remained India's largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years. The company also held more than 50% of India's passenger vehicle export market during April-September 2026. It currently exports 16 models to nearly 120 countries.
The Hansalpur facility in Gujarat plays a key role in the company's EV export operations, serving as the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzuki's first global battery electric vehicle. The facility has recently expanded its annual production capacity to 1 million vehicles, becoming the first Suzuki manufacturing plant worldwide to achieve this capacity at a single location.
With a cumulative investment of Rs. 25,288.7 crore, the Hansalpur facility is also a major export hub, accounting for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki's total overseas shipments in FY2025-26.
