India’s passenger vehicle retail sales rose 32.1% year-on-year to a record 4,27,213 units in September 2026, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).
Overall automobile retail sales also remained strong, reaching 25,36,920 units, up 31.82% from September 2025.
Two-wheeler retail sales increased 33.08% year-on-year to 17,90,188 units, compared with 13,45,153 units a year earlier. Three-wheeler sales rose 22.25% to 1,32,570 units from 1,08,444 units in September 2025.
Commercial vehicle sales recorded the strongest growth among the major categories, climbing 37.62% year-on-year to 1,03,557 units during the month, FADA said..
