The government’s net direct tax collection increased 13% to over Rs 12.12 lakh crore till September 17 in the current fiscal, supported by higher advance tax collections, according to data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Friday.
Advance tax collection rose 16.18% to around Rs 5.22 lakh crore, with corporate advance tax payments increasing 18% to over Rs 4.16 lakh crore. Non-corporate advance tax collections grew 9.24% to Rs 1.06 lakh crore.
Refunds issued by the government also increased 29.19% to over Rs 2.20 lakh crore during the period, the CBDT data showed.
