India-US Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026 Commences in Auli and Mahajan

The 22nd edition of the India-US Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026 commenced with an opening ceremony at the Auli Foreign Training Node in Uttarakhand. The exercise is being conducted simultaneously at Auli and the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan, with around 600 personnel from each country participating.

The exercise aims to enhance the joint military capabilities of the Indian and US armies for the employment of Integrated Battle Groups in mountainous and semi-mountainous terrain, with a focus on infantry-dominated operations. It will also strengthen interoperability and facilitate the exchange of operational best practices, joint planning and execution.

Technology infusion will be a key focus of the exercise, including the use of drones and autonomous systems for surveillance and reconnaissance. Contemporary weapon systems will also be demonstrated at the Mahajan Field Firing Range, while subject matter experts from both armies will exchange views on emerging technologies and multi-domain warfare.

The exercise will provide both armies an opportunity to share tactics, techniques and procedures and enhance their ability to conduct coordinated military operations across diverse terrains and operational environments.
