The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced open market operation (OMO) sale auctions of Government of India securities worth an aggregate Rs 1 lakh crore in three tranches, amid a review of prevailing and evolving liquidity conditions.
The auctions will be conducted through the multiple-price method, with Rs 50,000 crore scheduled for September 17, Rs 25,000 crore on September 21 and another Rs 25,000 crore on September 28, 2026.
For the first auction on September 17, the RBI will offer six government securities with maturities ranging from 2029 to 2032. These include 7.59% GS 2029, 6.79% GS 2029, 7.61% GS 2030, 5.77% GS 2030, 6.68% GS 2031 and 8.28% GS 2032. The aggregate notified amount for the auction is Rs 50,000 crore, with no security-wise amount specified.
The RBI said it reserves the right to determine the quantum of individual securities sold, accept bids for less than the notified aggregate amount and accept or reject bids, either wholly or partially.
Eligible participants will be required to submit bids electronically through the RBI's E-Kuber system between 9:30 am and 10:30 am on September 17. Auction results will be announced on the same day, with successful bidders required to ensure availability of the securities in their SGL accounts by noon on September 18.
