The National Consumer Helpline (NCH), under the Department of Consumer Affairs, has facilitated refunds worth more than Rs 105 crore to consumers across 35 sectors during the 15-month period from April 25, 2025, to July 31, 2026.
NCH addressed 1,66,189 refund-related grievances at the pre-litigation stage, helping consumers secure relief without approaching Consumer Commissions. The helpline serves as a single-point platform for consumers across the country to register complaints and seek resolution.
The e-commerce sector accounted for the largest share of refund-related grievances, with 1,00,466 complaints resulting in refunds of over Rs 74 crore. The Travel & Tourism sector followed, with refunds exceeding Rs 10 crore.
Between May and July 2026, refunds facilitated in the e-commerce sector ranged from Rs 1 to Rs 35,83,790, covering consumer grievances of varying nature and value.
NCH operates through a convergence-based mechanism under which consumer grievances are digitally forwarded to the concerned companies for resolution within defined timelines. The process is supported by continuous monitoring and tracking of consumer feedback.
The helpline has received grievances from metropolitan cities as well as remote regions across India, highlighting its reach as a pan-India consumer grievance redressal platform.
Consumers can access NCH through multiple channels, including the toll-free number 1915, WhatsApp/SMS at 8800001915, the INGRAM portal, email, NCH mobile app, web portal and UMANG app. The helpline provides grievance redressal services in 17 languages.
