Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has announced a temporary delay in the commercial supply of its anti-diabetic drug semaglutide after certain batches failed to meet quality specifications due to an issue with the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
The company said the affected batches were found to be out of specification because of the API-related issue. It clarified that there is no impact on patient safety and that it is investigating the root cause while taking corrective measures to ensure product quality before commercial distribution resumes.
Dr. Reddy's did not specify the duration of the delay but stated that commercial supplies will be postponed until the quality issue is resolved.
