PM Modi meets UAE President on G7 sidelines, reviews strategic partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France, to review the progress of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The meeting marked the third interaction between the two leaders in 2026 and focused on strengthening cooperation across key sectors, including technology, trade, investment, energy and defence. The discussions built on the momentum generated by the UAE President's visit to India in January 2026 and Prime Minister Modi's visit to the UAE in May 2026.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments. Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of dialogue, diplomacy, respect for international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity in promoting lasting peace and stability in West Asia.

Both sides underscored the need to ensure free, safe and uninterrupted navigation and trade through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy and trade route.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi invited Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the BRICS Summit, which India will host later this year.
