Bharti Airtel has announced the deployment of more than 2,900 new 5G sites across the Upper North region over the past 12 months, significantly enhancing network coverage, speed, and connectivity for millions of users.
The expansion spans 77 districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, providing high-speed connectivity to over 28.6 million customers. Airtel said it has been activating more than eight new 5G sites every day to meet the growing demand for data services across the region.
The enhanced network is expected to deliver faster internet speeds, improved coverage, and a better user experience, enabling seamless video streaming, quicker downloads, uninterrupted remote work and online learning, as well as reliable digital payment services.
Customers across urban centers, emerging towns, and rural areas are set to benefit from the expanded 5G footprint, which will support citizens, students, businesses, entrepreneurs, and government institutions alike.
Commenting on the development, Anupam Arora said data consumption across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir continues to rise rapidly. He noted that the deployment of over 2,900 new 5G sites reflects Airtel's commitment to delivering faster speeds, wider coverage, and a more reliable network experience while supporting the region's digital transformation through continued infrastructure investments.
