RBI announces Rs 1.25 lakh crore overnight VRR auction under LAF

Reserve Bank of India has decided to conduct an Overnight Variable Rate Repo (VRR) auction under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) on Thursday, May 21, 2026, after reviewing current and evolving liquidity conditions.

The central bank will conduct a one-day VRR auction worth ?1.25 lakh crore between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM on Thursday, with reversal scheduled for May 22, 2026.

The RBI said the operational guidelines for the auction will remain in line with the framework outlined in its January 20, 2022 press release.
