The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and YRGCARE, the operational arm of the YR Gaitonde Medical, Educational and Research Foundation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research in infectious diseases and public health.
The partnership aims to bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical application, combining JNCASR’s strengths in multidisciplinary scientific research under the Department of Science and Technology, India with YRGCARE’s expertise in AIDS prevention, treatment, and clinical practice.
As part of the agreement, the Suniti Solomon Research Laboratory will be established at the JNCASR campus in Bengaluru to support collaborative research, cohort-based studies, and training of scientists, students, and young researchers through exposure to real clinical challenges.
Under the MoU, JNCASR will provide research space, advanced instrumentation, and academic support, while YRGCARE will establish and equip the laboratory and contribute clinical research expertise.
The collaboration will also introduce the YRGCARE–Suniti Solomon Distinguished Faculty Fellowship, a five-year fellowship funded by YRGCARE to support a new faculty member—preferably a woman—to lead a research laboratory at JNCASR and contribute to academic programmes.
The agreement, signed for an initial period of five years, aims to promote joint research, resource sharing, and academic collaboration to strengthen India’s public health research ecosystem and translate scientific discoveries into clinical solutions.
