Orient Green Power Company Limited (OGPCL) has commissioned its first solar power project through its subsidiary, Delta Renewable Energy Private Limited (DELTA), marking a strategic expansion beyond its core wind energy business.
As part of its diversification strategy, OGPCL had raised funds via a rights issue to develop a 25 MW AC solar power project under DELTA. The first phase— a 7 MW AC solar facility located at Krishnasamudhram Village in Tiruttani Taluk, Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu—has now been successfully commissioned.
The project received its service connection on December 5, 2025, and was commissioned the following day after completion of required formalities. This development strengthens OGPCL’s renewable energy portfolio and aligns with its goal of building a more balanced multi-source clean energy presence.
Strategic Impact:
The 7 MW plant is expected to meet the growing energy requirements of current customers while supporting expansion into new markets. It will operate under the Group Captive Model, with the generated power supplied to DELTA’s captive shareholders. The addition of solar capacity is expected to improve revenue stability and enhance OGPCL’s competitive positioning in India’s evolving clean-energy ecosystem.
This commissioning represents a step forward in OGPCL’s long-term clean energy vision. DELTA is currently finalizing land parcels for the remaining 18 MW phase of the solar project, with further updates to follow as development progresses.
