India–Slovenia Joint Committee Reviews Trade Ties, Charts Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation

The 10th session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) was held in New Delhi, co-chaired by Shri Saket Kumar from India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Peter Japelj from Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.

The meeting provided a platform to assess current bilateral trade relations, strengthen cooperation across priority sectors, and outline a roadmap for future economic engagement. Bilateral trade between the two countries has steadily increased in recent years, reflecting the strength and resilience of their partnership.

With Slovenia’s strategic position in Central Europe and India’s growing engagement with the region, both sides highlighted the significant potential for collaboration in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity.

Discussions covered global and domestic economic trends and reviewed sectoral opportunities in agriculture, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, health, transport, tourism, energy, MSMEs, and Ayurveda. Both countries reiterated support for the timely conclusion of a balanced India–EU Free Trade Agreement.

During his visit, Mr. Japelj also met India’s Commerce Secretary, Shri Rajesh Agrawal, to further explore avenues for enhanced cooperation.

The session reaffirmed India’s commitment to a strong, future-ready economic partnership with Slovenia, rooted in shared interests and long-standing friendship, and aimed at deepening collaboration across Europe and India.
