Radico Khaitan Limited, one of India’s leading and most respected distillers, has announced the launch of its latest creation, Rampur 1943 Virasat Indian Single Malt. The new release pays tribute to the long-standing legacy of the Rampur Distillery, established in 1943, blending tradition with contemporary craftsmanship.

Crafted at the foothills of the Himalayas, Rampur 1943 Virasat is produced using six-row Indian barley known for its bold, malty character. Distillation takes place in newly designed pot stills that retain the iconic Rampur style while introducing modern refinements. The whisky undergoes primary maturation in American Bourbon barrels before being finished in Ruby Port Pipes, resulting in a complex profile shaped by Rampur’s dramatic climate, where temperatures range from 45øC in summer to 2øC in winter. These extreme weather variations accelerate maturation and lend depth and richness to the final spirit.

The maturation process reflects the influence of India’s diverse seasons—monsoons that soften, scorching summers that intensify, and crisp winters that refine—each layer contributing to the whisky’s evolving character. The result is a flavourful single malt that opens with notes of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, followed by malty sweetness, tropical fruits, red berries, stewed fruits, gentle spice, and a lingering, elegant finish.

Speaking about the launch, Radico Khaitan Managing Director Abhishek Khaitan said Rampur 1943 Virasat embodies the enduring heritage and passion that have defined the distillery for decades. He described it as a tribute to the brand’s journey since 1943, offering whisky enthusiasts an opportunity to experience India’s heritage in every sip. Chief Operating Officer Amar Sinha added that the new single malt aims to make Indian whisky craftsmanship accessible to a wider audience, highlighting the brand’s dedication to quality and innovation from the choice of barley to the cask selection.

Priced between Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,500, Rampur 1943 Virasat will initially be available in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi, with a phased rollout planned across the country. The new expression celebrates India’s distilling heritage while ushering in a modern era of artistry from the house of Rampur.
