The Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for the establishment of three new Dr. Ambedkar Chairs at Mumbai University, Jaipur National University, and GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. The signing ceremony was held on October 15, 2025, at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC) in New Delhi.
The event was presided over by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, and attended by Shri Amit Yadav, Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, senior officials, representatives from the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, and Vice Chancellors of the participating universities.
In his address, Dr. Virendra Kumar commended the Foundation’s efforts in promoting the ideology and vision of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar through academic and research initiatives. He emphasized the importance of education, social awareness, and institutional collaboration in creating an equitable and inclusive society. The Minister expressed confidence that the newly established Chairs would foster policy-driven research and enhance public understanding of social justice, equality, and constitutional values.
With the signing of these MoUs, the total number of operational Dr. Ambedkar Chairs across India has risen to twenty-eight. The Vice Chancellors of the participating universities expressed gratitude to the Ministry and pledged to advance the objectives of the scheme through quality research and outreach programs.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Director of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, who reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to expanding the initiative and transforming academic institutions into centres of excellence inspired by Dr. Ambedkar’s life and philosophy.
