Purple Fest 2025 Concludes at Amity University, Celebrating Inclusion and Empowerment

The Purple Fest 2025 concluded successfully at Amity University, Noida, drawing participation from over 1,800 registered visitors. The festival highlighted inclusivity, empowerment, and the achievements of persons with disabilities through a blend of cultural, sporting, and educational activities.

During the valedictory session, Ms. Richa Shankar, Deputy Director General, DEPwD, emphasized the importance of promoting inclusivity in society, integrating persons with disabilities in schools, and celebrating their achievements. The session also featured a report presentation by Dr. Jayanti Pujari and reflections by Professor Sanjiv Bansal, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University, who noted that the objectives of the festival had been successfully met.

The event featured an energetic lineup of cultural and sporting competitions, including cricket, badminton, chess, carrom, and table tennis. A highlight was an inclusive cricket match where Amity University students played alongside deaf students from ISLRTC, exemplifying the spirit of camaraderie and inclusion. Special schools and institutions such as Amar Jyoti, Akshaya Pratisthan, NIEPID, and AYJNISHD Noida also participated, providing a diverse platform for showcasing talent and sportsmanship.

In addition, a Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) programme was conducted, and 22 entrepreneurship stalls featuring organizations like Amar Jyoti, DFDW, and Art by Heart were set up, empowering Divyangjan entrepreneurs and providing them visibility. The festival also distributed 200 accessible “Veergatha” books by NBT at the ISLRTC stall.

The occasion was graced by Sh. S.K. Srivastava, while Sh. Kumar Raju, Director, ISLRTC, delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the organizers and participants. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded by Ms. Richa Shankar to the organizing team and to 16 candidates who completed a Mobile Repair Course at ISLRTC, marking an important step in skill development and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
